Have any of you been stunned by the going rate of lost teeth these days? Five or even ten dollars per tooth?!
If my math serves me correctly, at a $10 per tooth rate x 20 baby teeth per child, our tooth fairy would be spending approximately $800 on lost teeth for our four children. (Our tooth fairy told us that she thinks not!)
So, in an effort to make the standard one dollar bill seem way cooler, our tooth fairy has learned the art of origami.
Over the years, since Rylen started losing her teeth, we have had a heart, letters of the alphabet, a bird, a church, and more I can't quite remember. I never thought to get a picture of those sweetly folded dollars before they started to burn a hole in one said little girl's pocket.
Marianne is our toothless girl as of late and so far has gotten a jet plane and a butterfly.
It is always a thrill to see what the tooth fairy will come up with next...including for me. You see, around here I am neither the tooth fairy nor the origami expert.
(Thank goodness for tooth fairies and for paper-folding daddies!)

Haha! Your children are probably very glad whenever they receive these bills. Do they want to spend it, or just learn how to do origami? The tooth fairy is certainly skilled. But she can do even better by searching for more types of paper folds!

Awesome! Recently my 8 yr old was playing with his dog and his tooth fell out. He came crying into the living room because puppers thought the tooth was a treat. So now he knows our secret and got $5 to not tell his sister or younger brother. Usually our tooth fairy is queen of the dollar too :)

That is a great idea! Jon told us that he wants to save his teeth and put them under the pillow at once so that he can get a bunch of money altogether! He's such a funny kid! :)

We had a frugal tooth fairy too! My sister and I only got a quarter. lol I thought it was outrageous when my younger siblings started getting a dollar.

I guess we always had the frugal toothfairy visit as she only left a quarter.

Through the years, I've met one person that gave her child $20 for losing a tooth. I told her that was outrageous. That was about 15 years ago. Our children are lucky if their tooth fairy remembers the $1. To little ones, $1 is just as good as $20. Why not capitalize on that! I think origami $1 bills are totally worth more than $20 :)

Yeah for dads! That is a fun tradition. We used to give little toys but then the tooth fairy was caught off guard and ended up giving money too! Hope YOU'RE not planning on losing any teeth soon!
