Joining up with Ginny today, for the first time in a while...
I have been plugging away at Little Buds for Miss Marianne. I love the finished sweater. The pattern is nice and easy knitting that I can do when the kids are around, which is a huge plus. Those beautifully intricate but way more complicated patterns take so much concentration! I am planning to have it done in time for the holidays, and my girl is excited to have a new red sweater to wear at Christmas.
I recently took a break from the sweater to make myself a pair of family mittens to match the thank-you hat I made last year. I have made these before (in the exact same yarn) for a dear friend. Now I think about her every time I put them on! Everyone here could use a new pair of mittens, actually. So much knitting and so little time, I say!
I just finished reading Number The Stars by Lois Lowry. Rylen was assigned the book in her homeschool program and did an in depth analysis, so I figured it would be worthwhile to read it, too. It is a fantastic book about a Dutch girl in World War II who becomes very courageous in order to help her Jewish friend. Every time I read a book about WWII, I am always amazed at the horror of it all. Next up on the reading list is Amos Fortune, Free Man. I better get busy!
