A few short days after spending Thanksgiving with a large and wonderful family, we hugged them goodbye as they began a new chapter in their lives in a new state far away from here.
We have only known them since we moved to New Hampshire a year and a half ago, but have been blessed by their friendship ever since. In some ways it feels like we just met them yesterday and in others it seems like we've known them for years. I do believe that every now and again God places instantaneous friends in our lives that come quickly and easily. Length of time doesn't matter. Thank goodness for that.
Their move reminds me in so many ways of our own move to here a relatively short time ago. The memory of leaving folks we loved so dearly and a place that was completely comfortable ranks up there with the hardest things I've ever done. I think we all felt those familiar pangs of "goodbye" when we saw our friends off and the tears flowed freely, all the while knowing that it is only because we moved that we ever even met them!
So, I am hopeful and prayerful that God will bring friends to this family in their new town just like He brought them to us. Folks that will welcome and show kindness, just like they did to us.
Even though our paths only crossed for a short while in this life, I am so thankful that they did. I do, however, look forward to the day in eternity when we can all dwell together at His great right hand and never have to say goodbye again!
